Networking Solutions Vendor Targets Growing Smart Home Segment

Dubai, THE UAE, November 11, 2018 —

According to the vendor that makes solutions in the IP Surveillance, Wireless, Switching, Storage, Security, Cloud, VoIP, Print Servers, Structured Cabling, Digital Home, 3G/4G Routers, Power over Ethernet Kit, Powerline, KVM, and Structured Cabling offerings, the move to focus on the smart home segments comes as the Middle East information and communication technology (ICT) is gearing up for 5G rollout.

5G technology will enable greater speed, to move more data, lower latency, to be more responsive, and the connection of much greater numbers of devices, such as sensors and smart devices including the Internet of Things (IoT). Sakkeer Hussain, Director - Sales and Marketing, D-Link Middle East and Africa (MEA), said home automation or domotics is building automation for a home, called a smart home or smart house. Hussain said home automation systems are controlling lighting, climate, entertainment systems, and appliances. “It may also include home security such as access control and alarm systems. When connected with the Internet, home devices are an important constituent of the IoT,” he said.

Hussain pointed out that D-Link’s Mesh Wi-Fi technology was created to improve wireless network connectivity in homes especially smart homes. “Our Mesh technology Covr, provides seamless Wi-Fi solution that's the perfect fit for modern smart homes. He said gone are the days of only being able to use Wi-Fi in certain areas of your home. “With smart roaming, users connected to the network can move around the house while always being connected to the strongest signal available. Forget about traditional Wi-Fi extenders which require a user to connect to different networks as you move around, Covr mesh technology ensures the entire home is covered by a single, seamless network,” he added.

Hussain said by promoting and targeting the smart home segment, D-Link is demonstrating its commitment to the smart home automation market. “There is no doubt that this segment is growing rapidly in the Middle East,” he remarked. “The commercial launch of 5G services by operators in the GCC is a bonus for the smart home segment because of the greater speeds at which 5G technology promises to move more data with lower latency. “We are upbeat that with our networking solutions, smart home and CCTV offerings, we are well positioned to tackle the smart home sector in the Middle East," he said.
